Where am I? That’s a great question. When Adam set this blog up for me over Labor Day weekend I planned to start posting the following week. A trip to South Dakota, a wedding to plan, a house to pack-up…I reconsidered and thought I’d start posting October 1st… A wedding to enjoy, a household to move, a new home to create…November 1st. Ah well, here I sit on November 8th pondering. Where have I been since Labor Day weekend, and is it possible to answer the question of my whereabouts? I’m in lots of places…past, present, future. I’ve always believed that home is where the heart is, so I’m at home right now in several counties, cherishing times shared, hoping, & dreaming about things to come. Life is good, but I feel like I’m not exactly able to locate. A little reality therapy…it’s Thursday, I’m in the living room of the farmhouse, about 15 miles from Chapel Hill. I am warmed by the woodstove…our only heat source…and mindful that on my list of chores today is the acquisition of more firewood. Last week’s chores included getting a land phone and internet access…not as easy as it might seem to city folks….and figuring out how to get rid of a leaky propane gas tank and hook-up a new, not leaky/smelly system. Last night I enjoyed cooking my first meal on the gas stove. Andy (Steve’s son who also lives on the farm) & partner Stacy joined us. Dinner was great but my Scrabble letters sucked….2 o’s, 3 i’s, b and j. I lost at Scrabble, but won big on the Enjoy A Simpler Life scale I put in place when I chose to resign my official position as Assistant Director for Laurel Ridge, and unofficial position as Director of Chaos in General, and see if I could move at a slower pace. I’m working on it.
Where am I? Well, truthfully…somewhere between where you are and where I’m sitting. Thanks for being here with me. The post office and phone company have some clearer ideas:
