Debbie has been writing since childhood. Thats a long time. Her mom, remembers Debbie coming into the kitchen with her poetry when she was eleven and crying while reading it to her. Her first grade teacher used her poems on the bulletin board along with Renaissance finger painting from classmates. Debbie writes about what is important to her, and in a straightforward way about love. She treasures beauty, warmth, hospitality, family, fun, and good music along with a cold beer or glass of wine at the end of the day.
Six years ago Debbie and I were married and moved to the North Carolina mountains where she worked as Assistant Director for Laurel Ridge Moravian Camp and Conference Center. Having completed an important and challenging phase of her career Debbie was ready for a change of pace. In October of 2007 we returned to my farmhouse in Chatham County (near Chapel Hill) to explore a new lifestyle. Gardening, sustainability, slow food, edible landscaping, bartering, composting, basket weaving and feeding the birds are hot topics around our table.
Debbie has chosen to scale down, drop out, underachieve, and single task. It’s a hard job for her, but she feels it’s time to find out what it takes for her to re-define the so-called good life.
If you want to find out more about Debbie come sit on her couch at Blue Heron Farm, Pittsboro, North Carolina. For bill collectors her address is Box 99, Rt. 4, Shanghai Prison Rd., Kazat, Siberia.
I am really enjoying reading your blog. If you find the time to send some fall leaves this way I will be forever grateful as we are having our usual sunny florida weather.

Debbie, you are a remarkable writer…I have enjoyed reading your “meanderings” from time to time. I am so sorry about the loss of your friend, and Steve’s friend. We have each other for a moment here, but our love is forever. Thanks again for your beautiful words. Fran
