What a wonderful post! Sounds lovely. Wish we could have been there, but I guess we'll have to settle for seeing the Inauguration!

What a lovely, heartwarming post! I can picture every second of it, and love how you tied your own earliest memories to mine and Rusty's and Patrick's. So beautiful!

To weird! Buster and I was flipping through the TV channels and guess what Hee haw was on Buck Owens, grandpa Jones, Lulu and the whole gang.We started talking about how we disliked the show as kids. (If you were at our parents house that was what you were going to watch.) We started talking about the good ole days when TV was clean. Remembering my mom singing the country songs watching her laughing at the corny jokes. I miss her tender smile as she told me to be quiet so she could her hear the music and the corny jokes.

oh no! put my comment in the Be careful what you ask for
                                                  Miss ya!

A wonderful post! And beyond being a great job (and clear answer from the universe), it's also perfect timing ... even the notion of "community organizer" is under attack at the moment, so it's great you've found a place to nurture that vital spirit.

Wow! You could be expressing many ideas that I've been trying to put into words to explain my own life! It's serendipity for me to have found your blog today!

wow. just what i needed to read right now. to remind me of life's subtle gifts that are waiting to be received with a smile amidst a great deal of seeming greyness and an unsettled resistance to what is...thankyou.

oh my goodness, i can totally picture myself being there right with you. your writing makes me feel like i already know you. a stranger who ive written to many a time. its interesting how powerfully writing can take us to moments never experienced by ourselves but somehow shared in another time and space with another. its beautiful to read and feels very refreshing to take time when i am at a machine that normally saps the energy out of my presence to read someone else's expresssions and experiences of being in this moment. luv it. im looking forward to meeting you stranger whenever that happens to be.

Debbie, you are a remarkable writer...I have enjoyed reading your "meanderings" from time to time. I am so sorry about the loss of your friend, and Steve's friend. We have each other for a moment here, but our love is forever. Thanks again for your beautiful words. Fran
